My Story
Roots and Wings~ “There are two lasting bequests we can give our children. Roots to know where home is, and wings to fly away and practice what has been taught them.”
(Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Jonas Salk)
I write what I know. I’m an elementary school counselor of 14 years, dedicated Grammy, mother, daughter, friend, and sister. I write children’s stories for my grandkids and for the kids I work with, teaching them to cope with adversity, sorrow and loss, and learn strategies to develop compassion, grit, coping skills, and self-acceptance.
Justice and the Dream~ a children’s book
Justice and the Dream, from Christian Faith Publishing author, Katie Abrahamson, is a heartfelt children’s story that follows a young character who cannot speak, yet demonstrates bravery, compassion, and resilience while facing bullying and learning the power of understanding and forgiveness.
Set in the mountains near my home, this children’s book series follows the adventures, victories, and self-discoveries of 7 “cousins” who came to live together, learn from their Grammy Willow and from each other, and grow into resilient animal children, despite their difficult beginnings.

Justice and the Dream
Tell me more about these stories…
The 7 characters are very different from each other, but they have one thing in common. They are foster kids, adopted into one animal family and raised together in the mountains. They learn about themselves and about love, loyalty, standing up for each other, forgiveness, compassion, and respect. They learn to accept and embrace their past and forgive their difficult beginnings.
Justice, a young moose, shows strength of character when he is repeatedly bullied by Remi. Justice has Apraxia and therefore he has no words. He uses his body language, his personality, his connection with his cousins, and his big heart to communicate and overcome the adversity of unkindness. With the wisdom of his Grammy, and the help of his cousins, Justice proves that with the right mindset and actions, words aren’t needed.
The Next Adventure…
Coming soon, Summer 2026.
Blessing’s Heart Song
Blessing dreams of her Heart Song, the sound of her love, her fear, her pain and her past, the very essence of her being. She feels it unfolding within her, hears the beautiful sound, and then something speaks louder. Fear. She fears that she isn’t good enough, that she will embarrass herself, or that worse, others won’t think she is good enough.
With the help of Grammy and an adventure that goes terribly wrong, Blessing learns how to quiet her fears and set her voice free.
This story focuses on building confidence, being proud to be yourself, finding your own voice, silencing your fears, and having Faith. She teaches us to use an important strategy to quiet our fears in this heartwarming tale that will surely resonate with readers young and old.
